How was your childhood? Hearing that, you would probably think back about how you spend your childhood. In today’s society especially in Singapore, we would wonder if we actually had a ‘childhood’......
I personally thought that the children and young teenagers nowadays do not have a childhood. We are too busy in our school lives, every day we returned home exhausted and spend the night completing homework or either having tuition. Due to the competitiveness in Singapore, most students are always busied with studies, had tremendous stress and never really had time to have a good rest. We had such packed schedules that we do not have time to spend on ourselves. Such fast-paced, stressful lives, how do we have a memorable childhood?
On the other hand, young children are obsessed in the technology world, you see three-years-old kids playing games in I Phone or electronic gadgets are not shocking anymore. Children now do not play those physical games that we used to play in the past. Where we had a whale of time playing ‘catching’, ‘hide-and-seek’, those times technology are not that advanced. We played with neighbours, friends all those games and really enjoyed our time, make memories. Will these children have a childhood? When all they do are gaming in virtual lands?
We heard stories from our parents and grandparents about their childhood. Their stress-free lives even when they were in secondary school. Compared to the lives we led now, theirs were so much more exciting. The interesting old games they came out with were much more fun. When you asked them of their childhood, they were all smiles when they reminisce of the past. Will we have that kind of smiles when we think back?
In today’s world, it’s impossible to have lots of fun. If you will just take some time off to spend more time with everyone, make amazing memories, it will also be a childhood that you would remember when you aged, isn't it? We should make most of our lives and enjoy everyday. :D
